UFA Announces the Final Five Semi-Finalists

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Mar 26, 2014) - UFA Co-operative Limited today announced the final five semi-finalists in the last round of its Rural from the Roots Up - Get 'n' Give Contest. At a celebration in Hand Hills on Tuesday, April 1st, the fourth-round winner, Hand Hills Lake Community Club, will choose the fifth and final $50,000 winner from these semi-finalists. In alphabetical order:

- La Crete, AB - Commemorating Northern Alberta's Agricultural Centre

- Lomond, AB - LCCAS Lomond Community Centre

- Marwayne, AB - Marwayne Fire & Rescue

- St. Isidore, AB - Comité Culturel de St. Isidore

- Tees, AB - Tees Agricultural Society

"We're excited to see which rural community project will round out this year's contest," said Bob Nelson, President and Chief Executive Officer, UFA Co-operative Limited, who will attend the event in Hand Hills.

In a pay-it-forward style, Hand Hills Lake Community Club was selected as the fourth-round winner by the previous winning community, Spruce View Agricultural Society. With the prize money, Hand Hills' residents will complete a much-needed addition to the Community Club's kitchen - a kitchen that feeds thousands of people each year.
